Startup Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

Now that the entire picture of what the show is and wants to be is clearer, I think I can give it a fairer appraisal than I had before. More than any other character, it's now clear the show belongs to Izzy. Ketai's surefooted direction , the first-rate cast , and Peter Holland's visceral cinematography are all stellar, and a lot of the show's storytelling twists and turns feel earned. The show's considerably diverse flavor also comes as a welcome component, as too often shows set in international cultural hubs like Miami are grossly white-washed. All that being said, I continue to feel that StartUpshould could have been better had it lost the criminal dimension or at least minimized it, instead of letting things go so Breaking Bad. The thing about Kiesha is that even before this, she could be prickly.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Now that the entire picture of what the show is and wants to be is clearer

Kevin is the one family member she seemed to have the closest bond with, but she doesn't seek him out — is it because she wants to protect him or she thinks he can't understand? The quickness to laugh or smirk at a Black woman's pain and trauma, it makes no sense but, infuriatingly, it happens all the time. This is the best episode in the series so far. After 7 episodes that find Do-San to be a disgusting self centered woman manipulator, he didnt do anything as bad this episode. There is no official release date forStartUpseason 4, which is primarily due to the fact that there has yet to be a renewal of the Crackle original series. It may be some time before any new information comes out on whether or not there will be more episodes at some point down the line.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - More than any other character

The last season came out on November 1, 2018, so it's really anyone's guess as to when the next chapter could arrive either on Crackle or if it gets a review by Netflix. Alex wants to hear why Nick, Izzy and Ronald are so invested in GenCoin. Izzy's motivation is simple — her immigrant parents started a Cuban restaurant with no credit, and were forced to sell it to the highest bidder, they are now still living in debt to Cuban gangsters.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Ketais surefooted direction

With GenCoin, they could've gotten a direct loan for their business. GenCoin takes less than a 1% interest rate, virtually unnoticeable. Ronald, his face bruised and his arms burned, refuses to miss the appointment. It appears that his getting beaten up was the spark that ignited Alex's monetary interest here.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - The shows considerably diverse flavor also comes as a welcome component

Ronald uses the checkered histories of all three of our heroes in their pitch to Alex Bell. Nick's dad laundering money to drug cartels motivated him to do GenCoin, to atone. Ronald explains that his getting tortured was the direct result of him investing his hood's entire stash into GenCoin, because of how much he believes in what they're trying to do. GenCoin, Ronald says, is "for the people, by the people." Anybody, living anywhere, without the means to lift themselves up, can use GenCoin as their bank.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - All that being said

But still… it's such a heightened incentive that it felt phony. And, it turns out later, it was a red herring motivator to Alex's interest. He wants Izzy's brains, and he wants her code.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - The thing about Kiesha is that even before this

We'll soon discover that Nick and Ronald have always felt superfluous to him. Ronald eats a cronut after his epic, awesome, potentially life-saving speech. Jamie is at a fragile point in his life as he strives for redemption.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Kevin is the one family member she seemed to have the closest bond with

As we've seen with his character, he's always at risk of self-sabotage and personal setbacks when his father reintroduces his devastating brand of toxicity into his life. It was the underlying cause of his selfish behavior in Season 1 and the driving factor behind his reality TV stint to start Season 2. This time around, however, Jamie has a support system in place. It's notable that it is Roy Kent and not Ted who goes to comfort the wounded star, bringing their relationship to a new point. You make a big deal about Do-San choosing Dal-mi for CEO but he only did that to get her love. Remember Do-San is someone who couldnt figure out business stuff to save his life.

JP had to save their company the first time from the 3 idiots giving their tech away thinking they were talking to "Investors". After viewing the 30 exciting episodes the series has to offer, it's justifiable to the highest degree for viewers to find themselves wanting more, and three seasons may not be enough for some fans. Unfortunately, there no plans at this time for StartUp season 4, but this resurgence in popularity resulting in the show topping the charts may very well be enough to change people's minds. Netflix has been known to bring shows back to life like Lucifer and Designated Survivor, so anything is possible.

But it also means that the world of organized crime would also have a new means to move the money made from their illegal endeavors. Set amongst the unconstrained, yet opportunist streets of Miami, 'StartUp' weaves a complex and exciting narrative, featuring the high-stakes struggle of what one will do to reach ultimate success. Back in 2002, it was still a novelty to see a star of Sutherland's calibre on TV every week. He wasn't the first, but he was at the start of a trend that saw A-listers migrate to long-running, big-budget series. And while the US audience were slow to appreciate 24, we loved it in the UK, with DVD sales strong enough to convince Fox to commission more episodes of a series they had planned to axe.

Ever since the hit Season five of Outlander had been released with a huge success and an eventful last episode, all the fans have been waiting for the moment to get a tentative date for the premiere of season 6. We've got the immensely good news that season six is scheduled for the same, in the midst of 2022. It will be available to stream on Starz and its app. This confrontation with the Russians proves problematic because now everyone is paranoid that the Russians are coming after them. The Russian's do end up coming after them due to a rogue faction in Vera's Russian gang.

In this tense scene, Ronald is severely injured and in the aftermath, Vera meets with the members of Araknet to call some kind of truce. Izzy is as co-operative as usual and demands all the information of the rival company that was bought by Alex Bell. Of course, she gets nowhere and opts to buy out of the company. But to everyone's surprise, Alex Bell hands it over in a darkened car park. It's then when the big revenge plan comes into action.

Meanwhile, at Hooli, Gavin Belson's second attempt to beat Pied Piper to market fails. Despite clever overtures to his company's board, Gavin is removed as CEO. Feeling humiliated to have been marginalized in the way he has marginalized so many subordinates before him, Gavin arranges to fly his plane to Jackson Hole for a vacation.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - The last season came out on November 1

While awaiting departure at a private airfield, Gavin runs into Jack Barker, Pied Piper's CEO from earlier this season, also about to board his own personal plane. The two commiserate with each other in the most shallow way, disingenuously looking for an hour to spend together, and eventually realizing that they have the same destination and travel times. When Jack suggests they play chess during the flight, it seems like he's about to suggest they share a plane.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Alex wants to hear why Nick

In a beautifully crafted moment that subverts the thematic build of the scene, he gives Gavin his Hooli user name so they can play chess remotely over wi-fi. Of course these millionaires aren't going to take the same plane; how déclassé. Bachman sets up a breakfast with Richard to reveal his situation, but too late. Potential PR directors start balking at job offers from Pied Piper, saying they're worried about rumors of a large percentage of the company changing hands. Pied Piper's perceived value is now in jeopardy due to Bachman's indiscretions.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Izzys motivation is simple her immigrant parents started a Cuban restaurant with no credit

Despite his loyal championing of Pied Piper in the press, Richard is incensed. Cantwell already has the scoop, Bachman agrees to a tell-all interview, detailing how he was forced to sell his shares in a company valued at $50 million in order to cover debts from an elaborate party. Ever since Mel made her relationship with Jack official, I've been worried about the story line fizzling out. However, now that she's contemplating the idea of starting a family, I'm shamelessly intrigued to know what happens next in their fictional love story. But meanwhile, Christopher can't bring himself to have dinner with his dad. Rachel tells Christopher that the closer someone gets to a person, the harder it is to lose them.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - With GenCoin

"Like when you stole Uncle Lee's watch." She hands him his handkerchief and asks him to stop by the store the next day. Elizabeth visits Lucas in his office for the first time, giving viewers another glimpse into the mysterious Lucas' inner life. Elizabeth stopped by because she wanted to talk about how she ended up being the only person invited to Allie's adoption ceremony. It gave us another look at how educated and worldly Lucas is, as he spoke in French about a gift he wanted to get for his parents.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - GenCoin takes less than a 1 interest rate

The whole scene is a little uncomfortable because the town's trying to have a celebration for Bill, and Elizabeth insists on talking to Nathan right there, even yelling over the band. At least she pauses so Bill can have his moment. But when Bill rides away, they start up again. Nathan tells her that he turned down a promotion to be Inspector, despite really wanting to leave Hope Valley, because Allie's made roots here.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Ronald

With less startup costs than the first season, more of the budget was used for the show itself. George Lucas again visited the set, and gave Filoni tips on directing. The season finished filming a few days before the March 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The post-production team had to adapt to the quarantine, with their biggest trouble being the recording of the musical score. Kripke may decide, then, that The Boys needs another season or two after its fifth instalment to wrap up its story.

There are 72 issues of Ennis and Robertson's comics and, while the TV show has gone in its own direction story wise, there's enough plot left to tell for at least three or four seasons. To tide you over until either of those are revealed, we've rounded up everything you need to know about The Boys season 3. That includes possible plot points, new cast members, and a YouTube series that bridges the gap between seasons 2 and 3. We know you might not have time to binge seven straight episodes, so for the season finale, we wanted to bring together a collection of the best quotes, advice, and stories we heard from Season One. Five years ago, StartUp began chronicling the life of a fledgling Brooklyn-based podcasting company called Gimlet Media.

This year, the streaming giant Spotify bought that company. In the final season of StartUp, what it's really like to sell a business. They get out of the car, the woman tells Dalmi that her idea is good but they already decided to support another center. Dosan talks to another person to try and get money for their company. But she has to leave as soon as the elevator door open.

With all his success, Ji Pyeong remains just a scared, and scarred, little boy, afraid of being emotionally involved, yet longing for the warmth of family. Among all all the characters in the drama, I find him to be the most pitiful because he is truly alone, considering only the AI of Yeong Sil to comfort him. I hope the writers can make him a happier person, in whatever way, even if he doesn't get the girl in the end. Still, she remains fixated on the mission at hand and begins pitching her tech idea to different companies. She remains enthusiastic, making her way around various busy bosses and briefing them on the technology and how useful it could be.

While she does, the San boys start showing off the tech in person. An FBI agent targets the son of a financial swindler who hides his father's money by investing it in a tech start-up company with the help of a computer whiz and a Haitian gang leader. When she realises it is her grandma and that she's struggling with her vision, she breaks down in tears, and Do-san hugs her and tells her to put on a smile for her grandma. When Dal-mi returns home, she cries to her grandma and promises that from the next day, she will smile. The relationship between Ms Choi and Dal-mi is charming and endearing — it really elevates the story.

After an exhausting day trying to convince an investor in Samsan Tech's NoonGil solution, Han Ji-pyeong picks her up. He tells her to take a nap as she's doing all-nighters. As he advises her, Dal-mi falls asleep in his car. When she wakes up, Dal-mi asks Han Ji-pyeong not to tell Do-san about her business case; she doesn't want him worrying about money.

But for all their faults, I love seeing the three main characters working together, too bad it took until the last episode for that to happen . At the start of episode 8, "Pro Rata," our GenCoin gang dines and clubs with Alex Bell and his cagey Russkie advisor Vera , having a proper wild time. Ronald doesn't trust Alex Bell, though, and thinks the club is a mob front.

Almost decides to leave town, after Daewon has emptied all his accounts. He confesses to his ex-wife , intimidating her into floating him a permanent loan to start anew. It turns out he wants to say goodbye to his daughter, and to himself. The Giants have ruled TE Evan Engram out for Thursday night's game against Washington because of the calf injury he suffered in the final preseason game. The team reportedly entered the week hopeful he'd be ready.

We'll see about Engram's participation level heading into Week 3. His absence will again leave Kyle Rudolph as New York's top TE. NBC's beloved era-hopping drama tells the story of the Pearson family through the years. This Is Us again experimented with form this week in "Six Thanksgivings," offering a collection of short-stories before tying them together — inevitably, effectively — in a big, emotional montage. Yet as with a few other episodes this week, the ingenuity of the idea somewhat outweighs the execution. Some of these "Thanksgiving" tales resonate more than others, certainly, and there's the sense that some of them were slotted in to push plot along, while others could better standalone.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Well soon discover that Nick and Ronald have always felt superfluous to him

When Izzy is on her knees in the woods with a gun to her head, Phil shows up, gun raised and tells them to stand down and let her go having finally remembered his origins. An FBI agent who's primary objective is to save people and do some good. He knows the consequences and the level of shit that he'll be plunged into when this is all over but he doesn't care.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Ronald eats a cronut after his epic

Since did or did not rat out Izzy as the person behind the hacking of Alex Bell's accounts in the first season, Phil now works for Vera and the Russians. The first scene of the second season shows Phil explaining how he killed Maddie in graphic detail to the Russians and then it shows a member of the Russian gang confessing to the murder of Maddie to the police. The commercialisation of the 'dark-net', available to the public is something that could really catch on but there is one thing that they will need… funding.

startup season 3 episode 8 recap - Jamie is at a fragile point in his life as he strives for redemption

Nick thinks that Wes Chandler is a good place to start and he's right. Wes agrees to fund the company and gets 'hands on' with the marketing of 'Araknet' at various tech-conventions. When Izzy reaches out to a couple who have developed something similar in he hopes of combining forces, they find out that the couple have just sold their company to Alex Bell. Now there is a rival that is better funded and already has the familiar face of the company that will bring in loyal customers so Izzy hatches a plan.
